Wholegrain oat rolls
Do you know that feeling? Hunger creeps in unexpectedly, but there isn't really enough time to bake bread? If you need to do it quickly, then our oat rolls made from wholemeal oat flour are definitely an option for you! The baking time is only half as long as that of oat bread and the small roll shape means they cool down quicker.
So let's get started!
You need the following ingredients:
1 pack. Baking mix oat bread wholemeal from KUSTURA
1 pack of baking powder
150 ml unsweetened apple sauce
250 ml water
optionally some salt
Put the KUSTURA baking mix in a bowl as usual and add a packet of baking powder. Optionally, you can add salt, as the baking mix is salt-free. Now mix the dry ingredients with a whisk. Mix 150 ml of unsweetened apple sauce with 250 ml of water, add it to the baking mix and mix it with a hand mixer with a dough hook for about 3 minutes. Then the dough needs to rest for 15 to 20 minutes.
In the meantime, you can prepare a baking tray with a sheet of baking paper. Now flour the dough in the bowl with potato starch and knead the dough a little with a dough scraper so that the dough comes away from the bowl a little. The dough should no longer be so sticky. Form the dough into about 6 equal-sized balls (rolls) with your hands, place them on the baking tray and press them down a little with the palm of your hand so that they look like small rolls. (By shaping and pressing them by hand, the rolls are not as fluffy on the inside as the large oat bread from the loaf pan.)
Brush the rolls well with water and optionally use an apple cutter to leave an imprint on the rolls. Brush the rolls with water again and decorate them with different things, for example wholegrain oat flakes, chia seeds and sunflower seeds (see picture above). Now bake the rolls in a preheated oven on the middle rack with top/bottom heat at 200°C for 45 minutes.
Tip: If you want a slightly softer crust on your oat rolls, you can simply place a sheet of baking paper over the rolls after 20 minutes of baking.
I wish you good luck and lots of fun baking!
